"Deportation Causes Separation"

Being undocumented isn't easy. Its hard to be in a world were they judge you for someone you're not. Try an imagine yourself in a immigrants shoes. How they have to sacrifice themselves just to live the "American Dream" and success through life.

Dear Mr. or Madam President,

I'm a freshman that is worried about deportation against immigrants. This country has been having so many difficulties with immigration. How will we stop separation within families? If you can please take the time to read my story and see our point of views and why we come to the United States.

When Immigrants come to the United States they think of it as a wonderful place with no harm. There's many Americans who make us feel worthless with no value just because we weren't born in the United States. They scare us with deportation, but we only come here for a better life , or a better life to give to our loved ones. Immigrants can’t live the “ American Dream” for the cause of not having documents. If an immigrants does not have documents then their not legal, but Americans don't see the damage they do to the families that get separated . For example I had a friend whose dad got pulled over for being drunk while driving and all he got was a ticket and went to court, but money saved him from not going to jail. Then when my uncle got pulled over for the same reason they didn't even give him a ticket or for him to go to court. They cuffed him and took him straight to jail then deported him for not having papers (documents). Causing my cousins to grow up without a father . My aunt then had to play both roles . Which was hard for her because when my cousin was becoming a man she didn't know how to talk to him . This separation caused my cousins a big pain in their hearts. My point is how is it fair that Americans can pay money to get out of jail when immigrants have to pay by going to jail and getting deported. Deportation causes families to be separated without a mom or dad.

Papers shouldn’t decide the outcome of families being separated. We’re sorry we can't be blessed, like the Americans that can give their family a better life. Why can't we be welcomed with open arms, without the thought of being harmed by the nation we now call home . As the newspaper Huffington post states “4.5 million U.S. citizen children have at least one parent who is undocumented. When a parent is deported, their U.S.-born children sometimes leave with them. But some stay in the U.S. with another parent or family member. Some children end up in U.S. foster care.” What the writer Elise Foley is stating on the Huffington post on her article "Deportation Separated Thousands Of U.S.-Born Children From Parents In 2013" is, many undocumented families get separated, and the children have to grow up without a mom or dad . Or one of their parents has to do both the jobs, like my aunt had to. Many families get separated for deportation. This isn't easy for immigrants. It's like taking your own child away from you just for trying to give them a better future. When immigrants come here, it's to grow as a person and be someone in life . Not to be a criminal . Not all of us have bad intentions, because I can't say we all come here for something good. Many of us just want to live the American Dream. No one should be illegal. This is why I'm saying immigrant families shouldn't get separated because it causes families a big impact in their lives. Thanks for taking your time to read my letter.

Respectfully,

Perla
