Gun control in the United States

Gun control should be put to an end. Everyone who is mentally capable of owning a firearm should own one. The death rate would go down, and this controersey would be put to an end.

Dear Ms. or Mr. President of the United States Gun control has been a big debate in the past year or so. In the United States, Rahm Emanuel (mayor of Chicago) has made it illegal to purchase a gun in Chicago, Illinois. This is a violation of the Constitution. Any public leader who holds a position in office should follow the Constitution. It is something I very much so believe in. If they do not follow the Constitution, then they should not be the mayor of the nation's 3rd largest city. This goes for the president as well.

In Chicago, Illinois the guns were officially banned in late October 2015. Since then the murder rate has soared. In 2015 Chicago homicide's had nearly 490. Over Labor Day weekend in 2016 Chicago's 500th murder took place. At this rate the homicide count will reach over 700 by the end of 2016! That is insanity. I think if the people were allowed to have guns that the murder rate would go down. If criminals are the only ones who have guns, then there is no way to stand up and fight against them. This is a growing problem not only in Chicago, but all around the United States.

Guns are not a bad thing. The 2nd amendment says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." It is necessary to have the right of guns and it shall not have it stripped like it has been. The next new president needs to work on control, and let people have guns! The next president should also respect the constitution, and not go against it.

Sincerely,

Griffin Love
