NATO

NATO

Dear Future President: My name is Sem, and I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am 16 years old and attend a high school in Albuquerque. I have a interest in NATO and what they are doing in Europe, and what the USA is doing to help, and if we are even involved.

As most of us are aware, there is a raging conflict occurring in Ukraine, and it is a terrible war. There have been many attempts to bring the conflict to a end, and attempts of the Minsk Cease-fire have sadly failed. As we know, some NATO countries are helping Ukraine prepare and fight off the pro- Russian rebels. Canada, for instance, is helping “prepare” Ukrainian Military troops. Some countries are sending aid in the form of money, weapons, and training.

That brings me to my concern about what is the USA doing to help Ukraine end its war and to keep a European country from invading its neighbors and becoming a super power again. We must help stop this insurgency war here, or ex-Soviet countries like Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Moldova may attract the eye of Russia and its military. If the USA were to expand its aid to these ex Soviet countries. We could also help prepare Ukrainian troops teaching them how our troops behave in a military zone. The President of the United States has much to deal with and I understand that this may not be on top of your list of problems, but if this is faced, and fixed, the USA and the allies could spark a peaceful front with major powers and we also need to focus on not spreading our power and make Russia feel that we are a threat.

Sincerely,

Sem .J
