Letter to the President

Changing the prices of organic food.

Dear Future President,

A major issue that I would like to address is the price of organic foods. In America today, more than two thirds of adults are considered to be overweight or obese. This rising issue can not be addressed when unhealthy food is made inexpensive and easily accessible. Poor families can only afford inexpensive food which is typically the unhealthy food. Being able to eat organic, healthy food would be too costly for larger families or American citizens who may not have the extra money to eat healthy. Organic food is made healthier because it is free from insecticides, pesticides, growth hormones, antibodies, fertilizers, artificial additives, flavorings, colorings, and preservatives. How your food is grown or raised can really affect your mental and physical health. Organic foods and farming is not only better because it is fresher and more healthy, but it is also better for the environment. By lowering the costs of organic foods by switching funding from conventional farming to organic farming, we can have the ability to lower costs of organic food. With more organic food at a lower cost, we can be healthier and help to end rising obesity in America.

Sincerely, Sarah R.
