Child obesity

America is known as the most obese country on earth.

Dear future President,

Child obesity has become a national problem in today's time. America is known for being one of the most unhealthiest country's on earth. According to the CDC, Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. This shows we are doing something wrong. We need to become a healthier country. We need to become more fit and active. We have tried to become a healthy country. From Michelle Obama on Disney channel showing how to make healthy after school snacks, to making more products reduced fat. However, this has done little to no change so far. In fact, the CDC has claimed that in 2012, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese. Compared to other countries, such as Australia with only 1 in every 4 children are obese or overweight, all of our snacks and food that claim to be healthy, aren't as healthy as we could be able to have them. Our famous American snack that gave risen over the past 10 years show the percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 18% in 2012. Change is not impossible! With the help of the American heart association, we can do as little as encourage more eating habits, remove calorie-rich temptations, and get more fit to more complex ideas like having healthy eating classes in schools and contacting high calorie companies to use more natural products to reduce the calorie number. Sure the snack may not taste the same and could even drive down the high paying demand for them, but it is worth it. Do you still want America so we known as the unhealthiest country on earth? Or do you want to be the president that makes a change and promotes healthy living? The choice is yours Mr/Mrs president, the generations to follow will thank you.

Sincerely,

Jessica from Baltimore
