Keep Our country Healthy

Everyone should have easy accessible healthcare because of economy, health, and our rights as Americans

Dear Future president,

Have you ever imagined how bad it would be if your child was ill and there was nothing you could do about it? What if he or she was on the verge of death and you couldn’t provide help? 35% of the U.S. lives with this issue. Healthcare is too expensive and the healthcare that is affordable, doesn’t help much. Also a lot of places do not accept Medicaid or the affordable healthcare. A lot of people don’t get healthcare because they are not able to go through the process of getting it. Most of these people are mid-class and lower-class Americans.

Everyone should have easy accessible healthcare because of economy, health, and our rights as Americans. Illness and injury cost the U.S. $225.8 billion alone in 2015. If health care was more accessible, then that number would go down. It would help the economy in many ways. It could bring down the amount of unemployment In the U.S., also helping put money in family’s pockets.

Another issue with no healthcare is that people cannot afford most medications. Medicaid does not cover paying for them. There are many ways that you can lower the costs of drug prices so that Medicare covers most of it. We could allow Americans to import drugs. Doing this would get drugs to our pharmacies for a fraction of the cost. We could also consider a watchdog committee, Which means we would organize funding to lower the prices

Doing any of these things could help people afford drugs like EpiPens. EpiPens are essential for many families with deadly allergy issues. Recently the price of EpiPens has increased making it almost impossible for families with bad healthcare to afford it. From 2007 to 2016 EpiPens have cost only $103.00. The price has now went up to $740.00. Families don’t have a choice but to pay the price for the sake of their lives.

Many people believe that healthcare is a “human right”. Healthcare refers back to “the right to life”. Which is a right that every person should have. We live in a country that has freedom. Having so many health issues should not be a problem in your country. I believe that your government should take care of you by making healthcare easier to get.

Another reason healthcare should have easy access is that we want a healthy country. Not having healthcare can lead to major health issues, even death. Many people may think “not having healthcare isn’t that big of deal.” But it is. There are people around the U.S. who have suffered major injuries due to not having normal check-ups. Between 20,000 and 45,000 Americans die each year due to lack of healthcare. For example, Kyle Willis died of a tooth ache that spread to his brain because he couldn’t afford dental check-ups. Another example is how a women 16 years old couldn’t afford doctor check-ups and died of skin cancer in 2010. There have also been many deaths for people with asthma who couldn’t afford health care. Imagine how the relatives of these people felt. Over 20,000 families have had to deal with losses due to this issue.

All of these things are issues that need to be addressed with our new president. These problems can all be solved by simply making healthcare more accessible. Doing this will make America happier and healthier, It will help your economy, and give people “the right to life”.

sincerely, Drew C. New
