Gun Control

I think that we shouldn't take away someones right to bear arms, so that people can protect themselves.

Dear Future President,

I am very concerned about how the new president will address gun control laws. My name is Sam; I am 15 years old, and I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I believe that people should be allowed to bear arms for protection and hunting reasons. My family has always been hunters; I actually just got back from a hunt. Hunting is a way to control the animal population and also grow the population.

In my opinion, the future president should keep the gun laws the same. I think this because first of all the amount of gun deaths in the united states it is actually really small. Also I believe that if we ban guns the only people who will have guns are the criminals. Because they don't buy there guns from a gun shop they get it off the black market. The police cannot protect everyone all of the time. From 1962 to 2012, 49 of the 62 mass shootings were with illegally obtained weapons. We need to be smarter and realize that taking away guns won't stop violent gun crimes and it will put a lot of people out of business, such as gun shop owners and the gun ranges and even ammunition companies.

Thank you for serving our country, and good luck to you in your term. I have a lot of faith that you will make good presidential decisions.

                                                              Sincerely,

Sam M.
