Marine Pollution
Marine pollution affects the climate, environment, and animals. When you keep throwing pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, detergents, sewage, plastics and other solids into the ocean, it begins to pile up. Pollution is also the cause of marine animals dying out.
Dear next President,
Marine pollution is a serious problem in our world. It affects the environment, climate, and animals. Most people don't realize how serious it actually is; they just continue to pollute. Maybe if people actually knew what is happening then maybe they would stop.
The reason our climate has been going up and down like crazy is pollution. When you keep throwing pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers, detergents, sewage, plastics and other solids into the ocean it begins to pile up. When this occurs, the sunlight isn't able to reach the water which makes the temperature so erratic. People keep talking about how the weather goes from hot to cold and back and forth. It is all because of everyone throwing their trash away into the sea. It doesn't always have to be trash, oil is a major part of pollution too. July 1969 a Neuston Net followed a boat and saw the amount of oil that was going into the water.
Pollution is also the cause of marine animals dying out. Humans dump nearly 7 million tons of trash into the sea every year. Not only is it affecting marine wildlife but it is also affecting humans as well. Why do you want to see animals being killed and injured? it's so easy to prevent so prevent it; animals are being found with plastic around their necks and eating plastic that is injuring them even more. In Brazil the green turtle has been found to be dying from plastic bags. 13.2 % of the turtles that have been examined have been death by a plastic bag. The chemicals that farmers use slowly can go into rivers, lakes, whatever body of water that is near there land. Which leads nutrients into the water which makes excessive amount of algae. When the algae is everywhere there is no oxygen reaching underneath. This results in no marine life living because of the excess algae.. Scientists have counted 400 dead zones around the world where marine life is gone.
Plastic debris have affected the reef. Fishing nets that get left out or fall into the water gets stuck on the reef killing and damaging the reef. In 2000 - 2006 scientists took out 500 tons of debri from the reef near the Hawaiian islands.
People don't even realize what they are doing to themselves. Do you consume the animals that live in this polluted water ? Most of the world eats fish; some cultures only live off of it. When a fish is introduced to the chemicals and pollution, that ends up in your body. We are harming our bodies by eating this marine life that is polluted.
We are ruining it piece by piece. People need to know more about what they are doing. Start recycling instead of just throwing everything out. When someone has a plastic soda holder, cut it up before you throw it out. Save the environment and save our wildlife.
Sincerely,
Morgan
