The Safety of Our Country

Even though there are many issues going on in the world right now, the safety of our country should be one priority.

Dear Future President,

My name is Adrienne and this year's election has stirred some concern within my mind. The main concern I have to share is the topic of our country's safety. I fully understand that the United States is a relatively safe country, but this is 2016 and new problems have emerged that need to be handled. This nation desperately needs a leader who is willing to do anything and everything to keep the peace. This brings about the question of whether you are willing and prepared to take on such a task.

Throughout the news, stories of bombings and airport "hijacks" have been reported. Even though these may be "small" in comparison to what could be happening, civilians are still being killed or mentally injured. Just a few months ago, the shooting that occurred in Florida at a club shook up an entire town. Not only have families lost loved ones, but many others have lost friends. Bombings have even occurred in New York and New Jersey. This is an issue that needs to be resolved or at least given some thought about possible ways to end the violence.

The concern of safety does not end in homeland areas, but the United States and the rest of the world seem to be in more danger everyday. What can we do to prevent any major catastrophes here at home while also helping others in need? According to a new poll given by the Wall Street Journal, 47 percent of Americans believe the United States is less safe now than when the 2001 attacks occurred. The global problem of terrorism is spreading like wildfire in Middle Eastern countries and parts of Europe. Many attacks have been reported in Europe such as Paris and Germany just throughout 2015 and 2016. The most recent bombing was of a church in Northern France. Other countries such as Syria have been war torn and now house many terror groups.

In conclusion, the United States of America needs a leader who will do anything to keep our country safe. Once again, the United States for the most part is a safe and secure country, but now there are new problems and worries that have risen. The other attacks in other countries should be a sign of what could happen and should influence what we do to prevent chaos. Whoever the next president is I wish you luck and hope you are well prepared.

Sincerely,

Adrienne M.
