GUNS SHOULD BE MORE STRICTLY CONTROLLED

The problem connected with guns is that there is not very strict security, because when people sell a gun they have to see what kind of person they are giving the gun to.

Dear President,

I’m a 12th-grade student from BIHS. I’m from Ecuador, my name is Diego, and I want to let you know, dear President, what I believe about Guns laws. It is a topic that always was close to me. I believe Gun laws should have very strict requirements for purchasing one because at this time people can buy a gun easily and that person can give to another person who can be a terrorist or a person with a mental illness. That’s why if a person wants to buy a gun, first the person need to be investigated if they have terrorist connections and if he or she has committed crimes, already pass a test, and make background research in his or her life.

Guns have to be out of hands who can be a problem to the society, and in hands who really needs a gun. [C.R.S. 18-12-105(2)] Colorado law allows people to possess a handgun in a dwelling, place of business, or automobile. However, when you carry the weapon into your home, business, hotel room, etc. it must be in plain view. It can be good for protecting themselves from attacks, but always if those people who have a gun had a thorough investigation, but it must not be in plain view, it shows the unprofessionalism of laws, if the everybody is available to see the weapon a person can take out the weapon of that person and do something bad. An instructor of gun shooting was killed by accident, killed while teaching a 9-year-old girl to fire a fully automatic Uzi. Children should not be allowed to learn how to shoot automatic weapons. There is no reason for a child to learn how to shoot automatic guns unless they are going to do something terrible in their schools or in the street. Children don’t yet know what is right and wrong when it comes to guns. We should not allow them to shoot these dangerous weapons. But in another way, in the Navy Yard in Washington, thirteen people were shot and died including the person who made the attack. People from the White House believe that can be a terrorist attack, but how the terrorist gets the arm, this shows the lower security of guns in U.S, whoever can get a gun, with not many requirements.

We have to increase the security at the moment that a person wants to buy a gun, through reinforcing the requirements and looking at the person's background. And we can save many lives from bad people. Before someone can buy a gun, they need to pass: an exam of mental illness problems; requirements that are highly difficult to pass; a background search; and the government should insert search devices in the gun. I hope you can take my letter seriously  and do what you can to make this a reality.

Sincerely,

Diego
