Transgender Issues
Why don't we let people be who they really are? We are all equal.
Dear Future President,
First congrats to winning the presidency, I’m writing this letter to you to talk about transgender issues. I have read a couple different articles about transgender people and some of the issues they face. One big topic that everyone is talking about is people using the bathroom of the gender they assign themselves with and not the gender they were born to. I believe that everyone has a right to be themselves. So if a male who identifies as herself as a female wants to use the bathroom she should be able to do that.
One of the main reasons people don’t want transgender people to use the bathrooms of the gender the assign with is because they feel like they might be perverts. Using their gender to harm or disturb the other people in the restroom, but they won’t. They just want to be treated with respect like everyone else. According to TheWeek.com most of the people who say that transgender people are perverts are the perverts themselves or don’t want to change society for the better.
Instead of arguing we need to be making a change like Atherton High School. Having progressive conversations about what we need to do. But the issue with that is teenage girls won’t feel safe with a biological male in the restroom with them. As explained by Pbs.org we need to make a change, the society we are living in now won’t last forever.
Why are we making it so hard for people to be themselves, you are who you are so why can’t they be? We as a country need to look at ourselves in the mirror evolve because society and the rest of the world will not wait. Visual.ly.com pointed out that most people don’t like change and will say no to the idea of letting someone be the opposite gender, it makes them uncomfortable. But it’s not about us, it’s about the people who need to be who they are and express themselves.
With love for this country,
H.B.
