Police brutality

My name is Emily Jemison, and the issue that I have today is concerning police brutality. A police officer has a responsibility to uphold the law and to be a good role model to the citizens of all the communities. Even though police officers are human and they make mistakes, they should never be corrupt. Most importantly, they should not be prejudice, lie, steal, or use unnecessary force. These are just a few examples of things that police officers should not practice. However, many officers have been guilty of this type of behavior, especially police brutality, and such excessive force by police is particularly disturbing given its disproportionate impact on people of color. Our faith in the criminal justice system depends on the knowledge that everyone is playing by the rules.
