Issues in America

My letter is mainly about politics like taxes, border protection, and the justice system. It even talks about the election on November 8th 2016.

November 3, 2016

Dear Next President,

Hello Mr. or Mrs. President my name is Shelby and I’m writing to you to talk about some of the issues that are very important to me. This is really the first election that I have been paying attention to. I’m starting to understand the election process and some of the topics that each candidate talks about. For me, I think most about taxes, border protection, and the justice system.

I have heard many people, including my parents talk about taxes. I think taxes should be lower because then more money would come to my family to use for our house or food or best of all, more fun things for me. My dad says that if we had lower taxes then we would have more money to spend and that would help build business and create more jobs for everyone. I also heard you say that we should lower taxes for companies to create more jobs. I think that is a great idea.

I also think border protection is an important issue. I hear more about terrorism everyday and it scares me. I like the idea of building a big wall to keep the bad people out. People should stay in the countries that they are born in unless they come here for a job or go through the right steps to become an American citizen.

I also think that we need to improve our justice system. I’ve heard a lot of people talking about bad politicians who should be in jail. I’ve also heard that some bad people haven’t had to go to jail for doing bad things. I think this needs to be fixed. I also think there should be more police and that people should trust the police and stop fighting with them.

These are some of the important issues to me for this election and I hope you can help improve our country, lower taxes, protect our borders, and arrest the bad people. I’m excited to watch the vote on November 8 and I wish you the best of luck with your new job as President.

Sincerely,

Shelby
