School Lunches

Why schools should have healthy lunches

Dear Future President,
Hi, my name is Olivia. I am from Billings, Montana. I don’t think that school lunches are as healthy as they should be. Hot lunches at my school are more like fast food and canned lunches. The pizza is very soggy and falls apart easily. The ketchup tastes like McDonald’s ketchup. The burgers don’t always stay together. I think it is based on how much grease is in it. The sauces are very runny. The cafeteria workers aren’t as clean as they should be while processing the food. These kinds of foods are not healthy for kids because it can affect them in the future in many different ways. Some of the ways are their weight, health, diabetes, concentration, and heart diseases. It is not just in Billings, it is all over America.

I think that the schools shouldn't spend as much money on field trips, but add more money to the school lunches. Another solution is that more money from taxes could go to school lunches instead of other things like Federal Buildings and Interstate Highways.

There are lots more issues than just this, but this is is just one of the issues that stuck out to me. Thank you for taking the time to read about this issue. I hope that we can fix this issue while you are President.

                    Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                                                      Olivia
