Animal Abuse
Animal abuse is a major problem in the Untied States
Dear Future President,
Animal cruelty and testing is a major problem in the United States. In the United States, about one million animals are abused each year. There are many different forms of animal abuse. For example: neglect, hoarding, fighting, beating, etc. According the www.statisticsbrian.com/animal-abuse-statistics/, about sixty percent of abuse involve dogs, eighteen percent involved cats, and twenty percent involved other animals. Some dog breeds are more targeted for dog abuse, like pit bulls. Brandon Gaille, a business blogger says “Pit bulls account for one out of every four dogs that is abused, which is a rate that has doubled in the past decade.”
The most common form of abuse is neglect and abandonment. About thirty-two percent of abuse is negation/abandonment. Another common form of abuse is illegal dog fighting. Hording abuse is another form of abuse Usually hoarding results in neglect. About 250,000 animals in the United States are victims of hoarding abuse. In the United States, 1.13 million animals are used for testing on agricultural experiments. The authors at DoSomething.org say “Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year.” Only forty-three percent of people say they are against animal testing, but the number should be much higher.
A good friend of mine adopted a dog named Annie. When she got Annie she was very skinny and looked as if she had not eaten in months. Annie has gotten the proper love and care because she was adopted. To stop these horrible acts against innocent animals, you should increase the fines and jail time. You should also put an end to animal testing. For dog fighting, you should take the dogs and put them into shelters or give the animals to a good home with a loving family.. These animals do not deserve this. They need your help!
Sincerely,
Gracie Smith
