Dear Future President of the United States,

Image a world where the environment is perfect and we don't have to worry about any problems. There would be a beautiful world where you could enjoy the outdoors easily. Your policies should protect the environment by stopping deforestation, cutting down on pollution and global warming.

Deforestation is a serious issue. Everyday thousands of trees are cut down and ecosystems are destroyed. “Trees give out oxygen, and because of them we have rain. If we cut trees, what is going to happen? One effect can be scarcity of food. Many other problems are attached to it such as, less of rains will result in less water for irrigation.” (Save Trees) Trees do many important things in the environment. They provide the basic needs for life, such as oxygen and water. Without trees the whole environment, ecosystem, would be thrown off balance. We need to take action and stop the destruction of our beautiful forests.

Pollution is growing as a serious issue. Pollution is causing harm to plants, animals, and humans. “People who live in places with high levels of air pollutants have a 20% higher risk of death from lung cancer than people who live in less-polluted areas.” (11 facts) Pollution can be dangerous, and hurt the environment. It can make the water and air dangerous to take in for your body. “Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 sea mammals are killed by pollution every year.” (11 facts) This is just for sea animals, it doesn’t include people or land animals. Many people/animals are affected by pollution every minute. If we don’t act soon, then it might to be too late. We need to put a stop to all of our pollution.

Global warming is a growing problem. The average temperature is rising every year. One cause of global warming is that the pollution is creating gaps in stratosphere (the layer of atmosphere that protects us from uv rays). This lets more rays to get through and hit the Earth. “The last two decades of the 20th century have been hottest in the last 400 years, according to climate studies.”(Global warming) The climate all around the world is changing because of global warming. It is hotter now, than it has ever been around the world. “Nearly seven-in-ten middle class (69%) described global warming as a very serious problem.”(Chapter 3) Global warming is changing the whole environment and influencing how people live their daily lives. We need to unite together and put a stop to global warming.

In conclusion saving the environment is an important job that we should all be involved in. Pollution, deforestation, and global warming are some of the many things that we should try to reduce. Earth is a beautiful place where we live. We need to make sure that we keep this wonderful place clean and not mess with the environment. So in your policies you should include ways to try to clean your beautiful world.
