Poverty In America

How I feel about poverty, and that the next future president should do something about it.

Dear Next Future President

There are millions of families that are too poor and can’t afford to send their children to school, get food to feed them, or get the right medical care they need. We need to increase overall income to help families provide essential needs. The minimum wage must be increased to help those who are in poverty.

It is important to increase the minimum wage because it helps families afford what they need. I think we should raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 per hour or even more. This would reduce the number of people in poverty. It is important to increase the minimum wage to improve economic growth for our nation’s families. In the article from CNBC, “Why We Should Raise The Minimum Wage” by Robert Reich, “Raising the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 per hour would lift 900,000 people out of poverty” in 2015. This report illustrates that raising the minimum wage could help lots of people get out of poverty. It would increase economic growth and help the middle class. The majority of people who are making minimum wage are the primary earners for their family. According to, “Top 10 Solutions to Cut Poverty and Grow the Middle Class,”by Rebecca Vallas and Melissa Boteach indicates that according to “President Obama and several members of Congress, have agreed that raising the minimum wage could help four million Americans out of poverty.” This would also help the middle class and promote the quality of living among all Americans. This also gives children receiving better child care, and better food for the overall wellness. With this increase families could afford more thing that they need.

So Next Future President, please consider this important idea to increase minimum wage and help millions of people have a better future. It is important that you increase this wage to at least $10.10 per hour to help people out of poverty.

Sincerely,

Kalvin
