Abortion

Dear Future President,

My name is Clarise. I'm a high school sophomore in New Mexico. For me, it's important to be informed about issues that regard me. Abortion is one of the many important issues that regard me, especially in today's world as a female. I'm sure you've heard all of the arguments and statistics for this, but this is what I think, and what I have to say about it.

In my opinion, I think it should be a woman's choice weather she gets an abortion or not. However, it is debated when exactly a fetus is able to feel pain, since pain can't be measured accurately. It is argued from nineteen to twenty-seven weeks (third trimester), a fetus develops nerves that are necessary to feel pain. At this point, I believe that it's unreasonable to get an abortion, because it's able to feel pain. Otherwise, it's up to the woman. Also, the way that Bill Nye explained his view on why he believes life doesn't start at conception in his video " Bill Nye: Can We Stop Telling Women What to Do With Their Bodies?" correlates with my views. I also believe that the heartbeat isn't significant. Unwanted children will no longer be uncared for or neglected, because they aren't there. When women are seeking an abortion, it is more often than not, because she is not prepared or ready for a child. If the woman has the moral ability to, she should not be denied the right to have an abortion. With this letter, I hope to maybe influence you to keep abortion rights, because they are important to women, and children alike.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I hope that you're capable for handling this country and fixing some of the problems it has, because it's not an easy job to have. Thank you for your service to America, and your effort for making it a better place. I'm scared for this year's elections, and so are many other people, but hopefully you'll be able to ease everyone's nerves.
