Injustice In The Courtroom

I feel Like drug dealers shouldn't receive a larger prison sentence than Rapist and a stop should be put to it.

Dear Future President,

Rape Is a big problem not only in the US but anywhere no human being should be violated In a way that they don't feel is right or comfortable and no means no. Drug dealing is also a problem BUT, it's not a bigger problem than Rape and this Is the reason why I feel like Drug Dealers shouldn't receive a larger prison sentence than Rapist.

The rate of sexual assault and rape has fallen 74% since 1993, from a rate of 4.3 assaults per 1000 people in 1993, to 1.1 per 1000 in 2014. Says Rainn. Thats a good thing don't get me wrong Rape is still a horrible thing though and that’s a fact. “The firestorm erupted when Judge Edward Cashman sentenced Mark Hulett, 34, for having sexual contact with a girl. It is said that it began when she was 6, over a four-year period. The defendant was sentenced to 60 DAYS in jail. Danny O’Neal Thompson, 34, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Thompson was arrested after he was discovered with 12.7 pounds of marijuana in his possession.” This matters because 60 days is nowhere enough time for someone to learn their lesson for committing a crime on another human being just like themselves so you never know what decisions they might make when they get out now a drug dealer on the other hand receiving a 10 year sentence has a lot more to lose like his family he cares about but 10 years is plenty of time for him to think about his actions and decide that he’s really going to find some better to do with his life when he gets out.

Understand that If we start giving Rapist more time in prison then they’ll think twice about the decision they chose to make and they’ll be less cases of it. Now with Drug dealers they should just receive less of a cruel sentence that they do because the crime isn't as serious as rape.

Sincerely, Keith.
