Immigration

Our current immigration policies affect poverty, separation of family, and stereotyping.

Has immigration affected you and your family in any way? The issue of immigration has become a major debate for everyone. It is wrong to deport a mother or father, leaving their children without any supervision. How would you feel if your parents were taken away from you? Well in my opinion i don't think it will be good idea to separate families because children need their families to guide them through life. The separation of families is not the only issue that immigration affects. It also affects employment, the threats of terrorism and stereotypes of the individual people that come to this country.

Many misconceptions are made towards undocumented immigrants, people think illegal immigrants shouldn’t be allowed here. So this causes controversy. There are opinions all over the place. Although it’s not legal to be an undocumented immigrant in this country, some people don’t mind having them, while others do. Usually people from an American public are quick to blame illegal immigrants for everything wrong in American society. People see us as criminals, drug dealers, immigrants, rapists and terrorists. These names aren’t who we are. A stereotype is a widely oversimplified idea of a particular type of person. Stereotypes and terrorism exist in this world, people kill innocent people just because of their own background. Terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims.

Immigrants from all over the world have traveled many miles and have risked their lives just so they could be in a country such as ours. However we all know immigrants do not have the same rights as citizens. They are mistreated and discriminated. Immigrants are not legally allowed to work, this leads to having jobs that take advantage of them. They are given jobs in factories that are unsafe. These jobs do not provide things such as health insurance, or job security which means that a worker can be laid of without a notice or explanation.Did you know that 76% of undocumented immigrants have worked without being paid and 37% received less than minimum wage? Immigrants come to the United States for a better life, so why aren't they given that chance? We are all human no matter the skin color or race we should be treated and given the same rights as others.

Immigration is the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country. Just imagine you are 14 years old and you see your parents get taken away from you, well that’s what Diane Guerrero went threw. Diane saw her own parents get detained and deported back to Colombia, there native country. Diane came home from school with her house empty. The dinner table was set and the lights were on but no one was there, but her neighbors broke the news to her that immigration officer came to her house and took her parents. While only 14, not a single person in any level of government came to check on her, if she had a place to live or if anyone could look after her. You see how immigration can affect our family, separating parents from their own kids and leaving their kids alone and unsupervised.

The issue of immigration has become a major debate for everyone. Many people get affected by this issue. Immigrants are all viewed differently because of their skin . They are not also not able to get the same jobs and have the same rights as other citizens.
