People believe that America is unfair to people of color.

Dear Future President

Recently, NFL stars have started to kneel during America’s beloved National Anthem. Many people believe that this disrespectful, but the real disrespect is what the players are taking a knee for. These actions should not be punished, for this is proving that America has its flaws, and the NFL stars are willing to face the consequences for their actions. But there are ways to stop this.

NFL players are kneeling because they refuse to stand for a country who is unfair to people of color. There has been multiple killings of African Americans, with no real or good reasoning behind them. People also feel that the police who are the reason of these killings aren’t getting the punishment they should. This just causes even more controversy, which leads to riots that can get out of hand. One of these causes is the recent shooting of an unarmed black man who they refuse to release the name of.

Although many organizations are protesting, they’re going to need more help than that. This is where you come in and help. You are one of the most powerful people in our country and You need to help put a stop to this. You may even be more powerful than the “Black Lives Matter” organization in this situation, despite all they have done to help.

There has been many good and bad outcomes in this situation. Colin Kaepernick and other such as Antoine Bethea, Kenny Britt, Robert Quinn, Brandon Marshall and many more have joined the cause. This gave many people a voice in this situation. Many people have purchased Kaepernick’s jersey only to burn it. The NFL has seen a sudden drop in views by an average of 14% and many more people are outraged at what the players are doing. Although this has been happening in other sports long before this, kneeling during the national anthem during an NFL game seemed to hit America the hardest.

So, are you going to do something to stop the killings or are you just going to stand by? The reason they’re doing this is a reason you can stop. So maybe it’s time to take action. If you don't, more people could die, but if you help, the world will no longer be in such outrage. What are you going to do about it?

Sincerely

Gavin
