Women Can Do It!

To the President of the United States, I appreciate you taking the time to read this letter. I know you just got in office, and it may be hard to determine where to start, but please take this into consideration. I get home at 3:30 from school. My mom leaves for work at 3:35. She gets out at 11:30pm, then goes to her next job at 3 in the morning. By the time she gets home, I’m asleep. When I wake up for school the next day, she is exhausted and still wakes up with me to make me breakfast before I go to school. By the time everything is said and done, my mom is tired, and we still barely have enough money to get through. She is a single mom with two kids, trying to pay bills with no help and 20% less pay then men. In 2015 women made eighty cents to every dollar that men made. That leaves a 20% pay gap. Additionally, women only earn 66% of what men do at middle skill occupations. Also, studies show that more women go to college and graduate with a degree and still get paid less than men. Nor is it just the statistics; society is discriminating and underestimating women, and I think that has influenced the pay gap single moms and women are struggling with in America today. Our founding fathers way back when didn’t want to split into two parties, it would eventually split people based upon opposing political views. In this case, it is splitting the equality of men and women. If you want to make America great again, or want to be stronger together, this is where you need to start. Thank You, Ryleigh
