MINIMUM WAGE NEEDS TO BE LOWERED

Think the minimum wage needs to be raised? I don't think you've read my letter.

Dear Future President,

I believe that you should keep the minimum wage should the same. If it keeps increasing, then companies will hire less employees and go towards automation. This could be a problem, since there are about 1.3 million people working for minimum wage. The problem of losing your job is more serious than just making a low wage.

The most important reason for keeping minimum wage the same is to prevent employers from not hiring employees. Minimum wage companies run heavily off profit and if they pay their employees twice as much the profits will be gone. According to the article, “In Defense of the Fast Food Industry,” the author stated, “It's better to have a relatively low-paying job than no job at all”. If the minimum wage is raised, employers will hire a couple of adult high skilled employees, and go down the road of automation. But if you the keep minimum wage the same, Mr/Mrs President, the same 1.3 million+ minimum wage workers will keep there jobs.

Those that argue against me say that minimum wage workers are very poor and deserve better. According to the United States Department Of Labor “with the weight of evidence now showing that increases in the minimum wage have had little or no negative effect on the employment of minimum-wage workers.”But what I just said in my last paragraph is they won’t keep their jobs. I actually agree they do need better, but if the minimum wage is raised and people lose their jobs, a lot of them will end up homeless.

To conclude, I am asking you to keep minimum wage where it is. The reason I think this is important is that people will lose their job and companies are going to go down the road of automation. I hope that you take this into consideration future president, because this is a big issue that needs to be addressed. Thank you for reading this and I wish you the best of luck running America. Trust me you will need it.

Sincerely

Michael (Trump supporter)
