Immigrants

Our government is thinking of getting rid of immigrants, but immigrants help our economy.

Dear Future President of the United States,

Imagine a world where we didn’t have different races and different culture to learn from and get to know. Think of a place where you had to pay even more for taxes, food, clothing, etc. Think about hearing about other cultures and races but never seeing them for yourself. We should keep immigrants because they help our economy, they influence our culture and they need to be treated the same as americans, and because they help pay for taxes and keep our price of goods down.

Lately there has been talk about building a wall to stop immigration, but I don’t agree with this. I think this is a bad idea because immigration helps our economy a lot. “ Half of America’s agricultural workers are here illegally, according to the Department of Agriculture. But without them, the government says food would cost much more. Milk would cost 61 percent more.” This quote represent how immigrants help get money for our community and even though they aren’t legally in this country they should have a right to be if they are making money for us.

Also I think we need immigration because it helps influence our culture and they deserve to be treated the same as americans. “We are a nation of immigrants. Successive waves of immigrants have kept our country demographically young, enriched our culture and added to our productive capacity as a nation, enhancing our influence in the world.”(culture) This quote explains that the cultures of immigrants help make america unique and it helps us learn different ways to live.

Another good reason to keep immigrants in our country is because they help pay for our taxes and since it populates our country more it brings down the price of goods. “

One of President Obama’s markers on the path to citizenship is “paying taxes,” but most illegal immigrants already do so. As Reason Foundation Senior Analyst Shikha Dalmia has reported, in 2006 an estimated 8 million illegal immigrants—up to two thirds of the total—paid taxes, including both income taxes and Medicare and Social Security taxes. Indeed, revenue from illegal immigrants is estimated at $11 billion a year to Social Security alone.” This quote tells you that lots of the taxes that are being paid are from immigrants so therefore we wouldn’t have as strong of a government as we have today without immigrants.

Now imagine a world where we had a great number of different races and cultures.Think of a place where you would never have to worry about random taxes and over-priced goods.Think about seeing a world full of different looking people that are treated the same as everyone else. The world that I just explained is what the world would be like if we kept immigrants and treated them as if they were just another american. Immigrants help our economy, influence our culture, and help pay for taxes. Without them we wouldn’t have as much money in the economy because we wouldn’t have as many workers as we did and taxes would be put on random things because immigrants pay most of the taxes because they make up most of the population.
