Sports Injuries

Too many student athletes are being injured.

Dear Future President,

I know that the President has many important issues to address with our country everyday, but I urge you to read on. All around me I have seen many sports injuries in several students. My school football team recently has had plenty of injuries, with at least 3 students getting concussions and 4 others sustaining other serious injuries.

Sports are a great way to stay in shape and socialize, but there are a lot of risks involved too. Approximately 8,000 children are treated in emergency rooms each day for sports-related injures. When you hear this number, you might think that these injuries are do to bad reffing and harsh play in games. When in reality 62% of organized sports-related injuries occur during practices. This means that safety in sports needs to be increased a different protocol needs to be in order.

Too many kids in the United States are being injured by unsafe sports. I propose a solution. My solution is that a new protocol is agreed upon for the most dangerous sports. Such protocol would include things like physical interaction rules, and new measurements taken when an athlete is injured. This protocol should allow kids to still play the sports they love, but still stay safe at the same time.

In conclusion, safety in student athletes is not taken as seriously as it should be. Too many kids are getting hurt and sustaining serious injuries. A solution to this problem is designing a new safety protocol for sports teams to follow.

Sincerely,

Sydney Gresser
