Terrorism Is Bad

A letter to the next president of the United States of America about the issue of terrorism.

Dear Next President,

Terrorism is a huge problem growing in our country and the amount of terrorism is rapidly increasing over the years. In 2013 there were 19 terrorist attacks that occurred in the United States, in 2015 that number increased to 38. This number is growing even more in 2016. With the rate of these terrorist attacks occurring and the growth of ISIS and other groups, this country has become scary to live in at times. This is an issue that needs to be solved.

It is even more scary that terrorist groups like ISIS are recruiting people living in our country everyday. It is horrific to know that people that we see everyday could be a part of these organizations. The fact that ISIS still has a twitter and is able to post videos to recruit new people is horrific and absurd. They are recruiting people to kill and do their dirty work in our country for "revenge" or for "freedom".

In 2016 alone, 1,200 people have died from terrorist attacks outside of Iraq and Syria. 49 people have disappeared in the United States from Isis in 2016. These numbers are growing every year. With shootings occurring very often in the United States because of these groups, it is scary to even be in public places sometimes and it is hard to enjoy big events without that thought in the back of your head.

People may say that terrorism is not a big deal in our country because it is not affecting many people. This is not true. Not only do these incidents take the lives of many several people for each incident, they forever scare the people witnessing the incidents. After seeing a tragedy like this happen, people may be scared to leave their homes because they think something like this may happen to them. Also it makes them feel very sad for the people it directly impacted and makes them unhappy living their lives. These are horrific moments and it should not be taken easily as if nothing is happening because it did not impact everyone directly. This is also not an issue with only groups like Isis that would force us to get involved with foreign affairs. Most terrorist attacks are occurred by people living in our country that have nothing to do with these groups, so these problems can be solved without there being huge consequences, such as starting a war.

In conclusion, I strongly think that as you serve as the next president of the United States, you should highly consider finding a way to make the rate of terrorism decrease in this country. There are many solutions that we can do such as setting tougher laws for gun control, increasing security and removing these social media pages of terrorist groups. These are all simple solutions and will greatly help and decrease the number of terrorist attacks occurring.

Thanks,

Jake
