Something needs to be done about the cost of college tuition.

Over the past 10 years college tuition has risen a ton and is starting to become unaffordable.

Dear Next President,

College tuition is too high in price and needs to become more affordable for everyone. Everybody deserves to have a higher education but not everybody can afford it and something needs to be done about it. Here are some things I found about the cost of college tuition.

The cost of college tuition is going up at rate where eventually no one will be able to pay for college tuition. “ Rocketing tuition fees made borrowing that much more appealing consumers prices on average rose less than 29% over the past 10 years while tuition fees, and room and board at 4 year public colleges and universities soared 79% to $12,796 a year and 65% to $30,367 a year at private institutions according to the college board.” This shows that the price of college tuition has been skyrocketing the past 10 years and it's showing no signs of slowing down. Something needs to be done to make college tuition cheaper.

A reason why college tuition needs to become more affordable is kids that are in college or just fresh out dont have the money right away to pay for it. “18 year olds who don't have the luxury of thousands of dollars on hand to pay tuition will “get to” continue to pay for college with student loans.” This is saying that colleges and universities want you to pay ridiculous amounts of money to go to college and think that you can just pay for it right away right out of college/ during college. Also kids right out of college might have to get a job not doing what they want to so they can pay for college and could miss their chance for what they want to do in life and what they went to college for.

Another reason why college tuition needs to become more affordable is even the parents who try to help to pay for college can't always help enough. ”Parents are going into debt trying to pay for their kids higher education.” This is a big problem because if parents trying to help out their kids pay for college right now are going into debt. And the price of tuition continues to rise, then in the future nobody is going to be able to pay for college.

In conclusion, something needs to be done about the cost of college tuition. One way we can reduce college tuition is by “cutting interest rates on loans that you have to take out to pay unaffordable costs and tuition.” This way students will pay less interest for doing so that is, They will have to buy less money to borrow money for college from now on. This way college will still be expensive but not as expensive.

Sincerely, Isaiah S.
