Can my life be shortened by gun violence?

As the population increases, it also decreases due to gun violence!

Dear Mr./Mrs. President,

I am writing to discuss gun violence in America. Gun violence can be related crime, including homicide and assault with a deadly weapon. It can also be a factor in suicide attempts and actual suicide. In 2013, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, gun violence led to 11,208 deaths by homicide; 21,175 deaths by suicide; and 505 deaths due to the accidental discharge of a firearm.  This makes me question how long I have to live. Will my life be shortened due to the fact that someone decides they want to end my life with a gun?  Families and lives have been destroyed due to guns. My concerns include prevention.  What are you going to do to stop the threat of innocent lives being shattered?  Every week on the news, there are children my age or younger are dying because they are exposed to gun violence. So, I have one question for you. If you lived like middle class people who work hard to support their families and come home to find out that their children have been murdered or committed suicide, would you want the guns to disappear?

Sincerely,

Summer Cooper
