Legalization of Marijuana
Marijuana is the most used illegal drug in America, so I have come up with a few solutions as to how you can make it legal, but also have more control over it.
As a citizen of the United States of America I have seen many problems arise first hand. Most of them are ongoing issues, such as racism, police brutality, and terrorism. Although I don't have many solutions to the big problems like that, topic that I do have a few solutions to is about the legalization of marijuana. I believe it should be legalized for both medical and recreational use infall of the United States. There have been studies to prove that it helps relieve pain and is already used by doctors in some states on cancer patients. I believe it is a better pain reliever than most pills because it is natural and it is very easy to produce, as it is a plant.
The big solution that I have for this problem is to have government control over it. Right now it is illegal in just about every state, but it is still the most widely used drug in the United States. Obviously there is no stopping everyone from doing it, much like the situation with alcohol and the prohibition laws against it in the past. It is possible, however, to make it legal and have it under government control. You can have distribution stores run by the government instead of having drug dealers on the street dealing it out. The best thing about having it run by the government is that you can put taxes on it and make a profit to help with the economy. If you look at a state that already legalized it, like Colorado, you can see what kind of money they reeled in by making it legal and taxing it. They are using that money to their advantage and building schools to better their poverty stricken areas and they are putting dangerous drug dealers out of business.
I think that this is the best solution to this issue. It deals with drug dealers and it also lets the government have control over the distribution of the most popular illegal drug in America.
