Healthcare is too Expensive Nowadays
Dear Future President, Healthcare expenses has become a big problem in the United States. We are ranked as having the worst healthcare system according to Business Insider. We can improve our healthcare if we put some effort into a solution. Business Insider ranked the United States last according to the best healthcare systems. France was ranked first followed by Italy and San Marino. France was most likely first because the government pays for their healthcare. The United States could do the same. Defensive medicine is one of the main reasons why our healthcare system is so poor. Many doctors are afraid of getting sued, so they order a lot of medicine and test it to make sure it's safe for their patients. Forbes published an article that said “Defensive Medicine and the broken malpractice are two of the major reasons that healthcare costs are soaring out of control”. The United States healthcare system should require their doctors to communicate with their patients more thoroughly, so this way the doctors shouldn't have to worry about being sued because they have built a relationship with their patients. One of the many ways we can cut health care expenses is by doing the obvious and cutting the issue that caused health care expenses in the first place. Medicaid and Medicare are the main reason why the healthcare system in the United States is so weak. Medicaid and Medicare both have issues regarding their agreement. Both of these systems supposedly help people who are in need of money for expenses from healthcare, but some of the people they help don’t even qualify for this need because they can support themselves. Washingtonpost.com states that “Not only is Medicaid failing patients, the program’s financial troubles threaten economic oportunity”. To summarize, I think we can improve our healthcare greatly. We could come in a agreement to stop defensive medicine, Medicaid or simply have the government pay for healthcare. The United States has to fix this issue quickly or the expenses and the problem itself will become an even greater issue. Sincerely, Dario A.
