Against cosmetic animal testing
Cosmetic animal testing is cruel and wrong.
September 29, 2016
Dear Next President,
There are a ton of animals that are killed each year because of animal testing. It is wrong for these innocent animals to suffer just for our own needs. Animals are tested for cosmetic products which leads them to pain, and eventually death. Is it really fair for these poor creatures to die just for people to look pretty? I think animal testing is cruel and something needs to be done about it.
It was said in a certain article that I read ”facts and figures on animal testing” by Cruelty free international that millions of animals are killed each year from testing. “Globally, as many as 500,000 animals a year endure the cruelty of having cosmetic chemicals forced down their throat, dripped into their eyes or smeared onto their skin.” “Canada can be the next country to ban cosmetic animal testing” by Huffington post. These animals suffer for days or weeks without pain relief, eventually leading to their death.
I know what you’re thinking after reading all of this. “If we can’t test on animals, then what else can we use for these tests?” After reading a certain article “alternatives in testing” by Neavs I have found multiple alternatives to animal testing. Some of these alternatives include computer models and simulations, microdosing (Humans are given a very low amount of whatever is being tested), stem cell and genetic testing methods, and many more. These type of tests also have many positives. They’ve been found to be more accurate, environmentally friendly, more cost-effective and practical, and most importantly, more reliable.
The animals that are being tested on do not deserve to spend their life like this. It’s wrong to do these kind of things to them, especially if we have more alternatives. I think you should make the people who test on these animals use some of the alternatives that I talked about. It could lower the amount of animal testing by a lot, and hopefully lead to the disappearance of testing on animals.
I hope you think about this and take it into consideration. Thanks for reading this, and good luck with running our country!
Sincerly,
Summer
