Truly Equal Rights

Dear Mr./Mrs. President, I would like for you to take this idea into consideration, truly equal rights. There honestly is no such thing as equal rights; women, blacks, Asians, etc. are all discriminated against. The receive less pay, gent in more trouble and are almost universally shunned in the USA even though they make up the majority of US citizens. The first point I would like to bring up is the fact that women receive less pay than men for doing the same job. Women often earn 20% less than men for doing the same or a more difficult job. I find this truly outrageous. Why is our society like this? Is America not supposed to be “Free” and “Equal for all”? not only this but when a person or persons are denied proper pay just due to race or sex makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

The second point I would like to bring up is the fact that “minorities” (even though they make up the majority of US citizens) blacks, Hispanics, Asians, etc. receive much more severe punishments than whites. One story that proves this point takes place in Colorado. One man, was caught carrying one gram of marijuana that did not belong to him, He served two years in jail and no longer has the ability to go into the business of retailing marijuana. He can’t even be a janitor in one of these facilities. Another man was caught holding several ounces of marijuana, was arrested, and let off with a warning. Guess where he is today…. He is now the most successful marijuana retailer and grower in Colorado. Now let’s have you guess what man was of what race… I’ll give you a minute… The first man, caught with only a gram, was black. The other man, the most successful dealer in Colorado, was white.

To conclude, women should receive the same pay as men, and “minorities” should receive the same punishment as “majorities”. These are just a few, of the several thousand, ways America could have truly equal rights.
