Gun Rights

Keep us safe, but don't take our guns away.

Dear Next President,

I may not be able to vote yet; however, I should be able to have a voice. My name is Daniel and I hunt, a lot. I know there are a lot of things going on in the world right now, but the thing I care about most is the issues with gun control, and that is what I’m going to talk about in this letter. Let me take a second to talk about the hunters all across America. Most of us hunt with guns, but if you take those away, we can’t hunt like we are used to doing. Even if you take a certain kind of gun away, let’ say semi-automatics, that’s a problem. I’ll tell you right now most people I know hunt with semi-automatics, whether it be small game or big game. We hunt with those kinds of guns. I simply ask you to make gun laws stricter instead of take them away.

I totally agree that gun laws should be more strict, but I don’t think we need to take away guns for good. According to the NewsELA article titled, “ President, moved to tears by memory of victims, unveils gun control plan.” Barack Obama says, “this is not a plan to take away all of your guns” -- “you pass a background check you get a firearm, the problem is that some gun salesmen operate a bit differently.” I believe that you should make every unauthorized gun salesman get a license. You should also do background checks on everyone who buys a gun.

I believe that we should keep all of our guns and just make laws a lot stricter. For sure, we shouldn’t take them away. Dear Next President, I beg you as a hunter not to take guns away, but only make gun laws more strict.

Sincerely,

Daniel H., Pennsylvania
