ABORT MISSION ON ABORTION
People that are Pro-Choice believe that giving birth to an unwanted child can cause depression. According to healthsearchfunding.org, women who have abortions are three times more likely to commit suicide than women of childbearing age.
Dear future President,
Abortion is a very hot and controversial issue in the world today. Abortion was legalized in 1973. Since then, there have been well over 54 million abortions through 2011. Through these years the saying,” It’s my body, my choice” has been brought up.
According to operationrescue.org, in America half of all pregnancies are unintended. They stated,” Of all unintended pregnancies 4 in 10 are aborted.” Black women hold 69% of these unintended pregnancies while white women hold 40%. It also states that, “Black women are 5 times more likely to get an abortion than white women.” Taking the lives of unborn babies is still the issue here. I believe only under certain circumstances, should abortion be okay. Circumstances in which the baby has a 100% chance of not making it and taking the mother’s life. Aborting a child due to being financially unstable is not okay. There are other options such as seeking affordable health care, looking into adoption, and receiving help from the government.
Some short term effects that can come from abortions are blood clots, excessive bleeding and infections. Abortions also come with many risks. Those risks vary from injury on the cervix to infections. People that are Pro-Choice believe that giving birth to an unwanted child can cause depression. According to healthsearchfunding.org, "women who have abortions are three times more likely to commit suicide than women of childbearing age." People that are Pro-Choice feel that women who continue with an unintended pregnancy will have thoughts of suicide due to depression. It states,” about 45% of women who have had an abortion report having suicidal feelings immediately following their procedure.”
People that are Pro-Choice believe that if the person is not ready to have a baby, then they should not have to continue with the pregnancy. As said above there are plenty of other options like adoption. Although, if the the pregnancy was unintended, adoption allows the mother to decide whether or not they want to be in their child’s life. Adoption is also an easy way to allow the child to live in a home that is financially stable. The government can also help in many ways. There are programs such as WIC, which helps with food, and there are programs for living assistance. As the next president, with all the power you will hold, please make the necessary changes when it comes to abortion.
Sincerely,
Shalona
