Obesity

Dear Future President,

Obesity has become an issue in our nation today. America has largely become know as one of the most obese countries in the world. We need to change our health regulation in order to make our nation thrive.

Obesity has become such a big problem, this is the first generation of children in history to have a shorter lifespan than their parents. According to the CDC, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years. The CDC is an organization that helps control and prevent diseases. America has been listed as the 10th most obese county in the world according to Gazette Review.

Out of all the issues occurring, why should obesity be a priority? Studies have shown that people who have better eating habits and exercise consistently are more likely to have better performance at work. Studies by the Health Enhancement Research Organization, Brigham Young University, and the Center for Health Research at Healthways show that employees who eat healthy are 25% more likely to have higher job performance. Studies have also found a link between obesity and heart disease and high blood pressure and high cholesterol and type two diabetes and stroke and high levels of stress.

Although fast food restaurants sell fast food that isn't as healthy as a homemade dish, but is quicker and the food is cheaper. If we cut down the bad foods in fast food industries, we can solve some of the obesity problems in the U.S. If we could cut down on the number of servings per day at fast food restaurants many people would be healthy.

Obesity is rough subject today because so many people are facing it. This problem is something that we must recognize as a whole, and work together to stop. America could achieve so much more and not be thought of as the fat country with bacon donuts.
