Fix the Bullying Problem
We need to stop bullying in America now.
To the Future President:
My name Rori Evans. I live in Iowa, and I am an eighth grader at Oskaloosa Christian School School.
I am writing to you about bullying and cyberbullying. They are problems all over the world, and they need to stop. People commit suicide because of cyberbullying and bullying. About 400, 400 deaths per year are recorded of people committing suicide. Nearly thirty percent of students are either bullies or victims of bullying. Roughly 43,000 of them commit suicide for different reasons. About 160,000 kids drop out of school or miss school each year because of the fear that the bullies are going to hurt them.
The issue matters to me because people should not get bullied for anything and when they get hurt, mentally and physically, it shakes them. One of the main causes of bullying is because bullies get bullied themselves, both at home with their families or in school.
You should care about this issue because people are killing themselves because of bullying, and even if they aren’t, they still feel destructive in a way. It is the third leading cause to death in America citizens today. Something must be done.
What you should do about bullying is make school rules better and actually punish bullies when they bully others. Then, for cyberbullying, parents should monitor their kids on their phone so that doesn't happen. Kids need to feel safe and maybe, if they know that people care about them and are watching out for them, they can talk about with someone they will, and they will fix the problems.
As a Christian I think bullying is a horrible thing. People just don't think before they say or do anything. God tells us to do go others as you would have them do to you, and even Christians bully people. However; sometimes they bully people without even knowing, Christian and non-Christians. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
I ask that you please consider my request. You have the power to help make our nation happier, and kids will stay in school and get the education they need to succeed in life-life that they keep ending because of other kids.
Sincerely,
Rori Evans
