Students Need Better School Lunches

I think that schools need better options to give to their students to eat at lunch because most of the options are not healthy or variety.

Dear future president,

Schools need better lunches to give to their students. School lunches are normally very unappealing and taste bad. Some students will refuse to eat their school lunch because it has no variety, there are no healthy options and nothing that sounds appealing to eat every single day of the week. You need to give schools better lunches so that they can have a better, and productive day at school knowing that they have food that will last them throughout the day.

There are no healthy options to eat so often times kids go without eating lunch and starve for the rest of the day. If there are healthy options they are normally rotten or going bad. For example, a lot of the fruits that we have at my school are very mushy from riding around and getting shipped to us. I have also noticed that my school has more fruits than vegetables but we need the same amount of both. Also, the healthy food is not in every single lunch line it is only in about half of them. There should be at least one healthy food option like apples, oranges, bananas, salad, carrots, corn, and broccoli in every line every day.

The school lunches need variety because every day there is the same food over and over again. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets, and pizza are served every day in two out of the three lines, but instead should be replaced with healthier options. For example, instead of having hamburgers every day there should be a salad bar or a salad lunch line for people to have healthier options and be able to choose what goes onto their own salad.

In conclusion having healthier options will help everyone have a healthier diet at school. It will also ensure faculty and parents that their students are getting enough food and nutrients to last them throughout the day and until they have dinner at home. Not just my school but lots of other schools could also benefit from this change in better lunch options and choices.

Sincerely,

Jenna L.
