Dear Next President, I know you have a lot of things on your plate, but please read this. I am writing to you because there needs to be more restrictions on guns.There have been a lot of deaths due to gun violence, and many of them we can control. In most of the shootings, the suspect knows the victim, but innocent people and pets can get caught in the crossfire. I chose this topic because we can fix this problem. There are a lot of arguments in America right now, and to be honest, I don’t think that some people are making good suggestions, or can even recognize the problem. The idea I had in mind was to make guns with non-lethal rounds. Another suggestion, is people should keep guns in their homes for a majority of the time. If someone tries to hurt you in your house, it is self-defense. In my opinion, I think the only reason someone should actually have to use their gun is if someone breaks into their house or in a life-threatening situation. I think it might help if the future president makes most guns with non-lethal rounds and let the lethal ammo deplete. While researching I have found some interesting facts about gun violence According to gunfacts.info, 71% of gunshot victims had previous arrest records. This is not good. And these are only statistics. We don’t know how many have happened in a back alleyway, or been dumped in a body of water. And yes, while Chicago is sometimes referred to as Chiraq, it is not the only place that is dangerous to live. Detroit and New Orleans are also at the top of the chart. In conclusion, I feel as long as guns are still in the world I think that the economy is going to fall apart if we don’t do something about it. While I understand that the police need guns to protect us, they wouldn’t need as many guns if citizens did not have them. Then again, you also have the people with knives and other lethal weapons. Mainly, we just have to recognize that if we don’t stop this now, it is just going to get worse and worse.This change along with other changes can turn the world around for the better.
