Racism and Violence

Racism and Violence should not be allowed in the United States.

Dear Mr. Trump,

Congratulations on becoming the 45th president of the United States! You have put a lot of effort into this election. One thing that is very important in the United States is Racism. There have been many “black and white” conflicts, and I believe that we should put an end to it. According to "http://www.npr.org," it says that in July of 2016, there was one completely innocent man who was African-American. He was in his car driving, until a police officer shot and killed him.

Very recently, in September of 2016, an African-American man named Terence Crutcher got shot and killed by a police officer, according to "http://www.cnn.com". This page, "http://mappingpoliceviolence.org" shows how many unarmed African-American people were killed by police. It claims that they killed more than 102 unarmed of them, nearly twice each week. Another thing this website mentioned was that 1 in 3 black people were killed by them in 2015. It also states that unarmed black people were killed by the police officers at a rate of 5 times more than unarmed whites in 2015. There have been many of these heartbreaking occasions, and I believe that you can stop this from happening.

Another major issue that is affecting our country is Violence. One of the most serious type of violence in the United States is gun violence. With gun violence, there have been several severe injuries, and tragic deaths. According to "http://www.justfacts.com," it claims that 14,249 murders were committed in 2014, and 68% which is the same as 9,765 of those were by firearms. A survey (which was created in 1994) was controlled and managed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They found out that Americans use guns to frighten away intruders who are breaking into their homes about 498,000 times per year! This page also states that they found data from a survey that was written by the U.S. Department of Justice. The survey said that approximately 5.9 million violent crimes were committed in the United States in the year of 2014. Some of the crimes were assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, and even murders.

As you can see, Racism and Violence are two things that are hurting our country. I believe that if it continues, something bad may happen, and things won’t turn out too good. In this country, we should stop Racism and Violence to create a better environment for everyone. Both of these issues are a tremendous problem in the United States, and I think you can change it.

Sincerely,
