Global warming

Global Warming is a problem that has to be addressed now.

Dear future president of the United States,

I believe that people should not have to die or be relocated before a solution is found for Global Warming.

I believe that we should protect the earth before the damage is irreversible.

I believe that we should act now while the problem is smaller than what it could be in a few years.

Right now as you are reading this 31 billion tons of carbon dioxide are in the process of being released into the atmosphere, an atmosphere that keeps us safe from meteors, and allows us to live. But that's is not all, 31 billion tons are released daily and that is turning the atmosphere, the same atmosphere that allows us to live, into something that will kill us instead. And to think, soon this process will be irreversible all because we wanted more power and energy, from Earth’s nonrenewable resources.

Many countries have started enforcing lower emissions with laws as a solution to Global Warming including but not limited to Canada, and Russia, while the U.S. has just left it as optional. If the U.S. made it a law to lower emissions, it would reduce the emissions lower than 31 billion, maybe even to 25 billion and lower yet. Another way we could slow down Global Warming would be tax reductions for those who can prove that they have, and continuously are, reducing their emissions. This works financially because if we can stop Global Warming from accelerating, we won’t have to invest massively to put a stop to it, and since the minor subtractions reduce the problem, they are justified.

As the president you have lots of authority and leverage, which should not be abused.Power that should be used for the welfare of the citizens of the United States, power that should be used for the safekeeping of America. And right now America, with the rest of the world, is at risk, all because of one threat which is Global Warming.

As the face of this country, you will have to set the example for the rest of the world, as the next president you will have to be the voice of reason against a huge threat, and you, as the next president should take advice from those who have successfully served before you, like President Obama when he said,

“No nation is immune. In America, the past decade has been our hottest on record. Along our eastern coast, the city of Miami now floods at high tide. In our west, wildfire season now stretches most of the year. In our heartland, farms have been parched by the worst drought in generations, and drenched by the wettest spring in our history. A hurricane left parts of this great city dark and underwater. And some nations already live with far worse. Worldwide, this summer was the hottest ever recorded -- with global carbon emissions still on the rise.”

So ask yourself, how do you want to be remembered? As a president who solved a massive problem, or just another who fell to Global Warming.
