Race Relations in America
I believe that we need to fix relations between different races because the future of our nation depends on it.
Dear Mr./Madam President:
Congratulations on your recent victory and I am sorry to write to you soon after your victory, but I feel that an important issue needs to be addressed. Over the past few decades relations between people of other races and nationalities has caused problems in our nations. The tension between people has led to shootings that have left many people dead and many others devoted by the loss of that person. I believe that if we address this problem now we can reduce the chance for pain and suffering to happen to everyday Americans.
Relations between races have been a problem, in my opinion, since September 11,2001. After that terror attack, people began to hate Muslims and alienate them in American society,or they would blame them for the terror attack and lash out against them. This attitude is still prevalent in today's society. Muslims are still stereotyped as being terrorists and this needs to stop in order for us to be a united nation.
One of the most profound examples of terrible race relations is that between white police officers and black individuals. The interaction between these two groups has been highly publicizes in the media because they can result in the unlawful shooting of the black individual. I believe that the police believe that regardless of what a black person is doing, they must be up to no good. I thinks that the police should not have this stereotype of people and we could fix this problem by be more understanding towards everyone and not just jump to conclusions.
I believe that we could fix the problems with race relations with legislature that reflects the demographics from all over the country, instead of a mostly white one. Wh could also fix this with advocating for a bill make the penalties for a hate crime more stiff, so that they deter this behavior. Thank you for reading my letter.
