Stereotypes are bad

Stereotypes are the main problem with our country and the first step in our country's success.

Dear Future President,

Stereotyping is when someone jumps to a conclusion and judges someone because of their race, gender, religion, sexual preference or anything like that. Did you know that “The Crime and Delinquency Journal recently released a study that estimated that 50 percent of black men had at least one arrest by the age 18”  (Atlanta Black Star, 4)." Atlanta Black Star. AtlantaBlackStar, 07 Apr. 2014. Web. 06 Nov. 2016. I believe that reducing stereotypes should be the top priority for our future president because that is the first step in less hate and that will make everything much easier to deal with.

Stereotyping is bad because everyone is born the same way without hate and completely innocent and that shouldn't change just because of a stereotype that might be associated with their race or religion. One example is the current situation with one of the candidates for presidency where he or she is promising to keep out all Islamic people from the United states. This is important because if we can’t judge people for how they act instead of how their country or race is seen as a whole then there will always be hate and war. Also, no one should ever be judged by the color of their skin. One example of this stereotype is some of the recent deaths of African Americans that were shot by police officers without a good reason just because they were afraid of them due to stereotype. This matters because with all of this happening you won't be able to try and fix any of the other problems because everyone has to be on good terms to do that. That is why this is the most important issue that you need to deal with.

The side of this argument that some other people see is the opinion that stereotypes are what is going to make the United States a better and safer place. A lot of people think that by getting rid of all Islamic people it is going to stop terrorism in our country. One example of this is if someone is planning a terroristic attack on the US and he or she gets deported and it never happens then that would be a good thing. This matters because it could potentially save lives. That was one reason why stereotypes can be good.

What I think you should do to resolve this problem is to get a council of representatives of every group together and respectfully meet once a week and resolve one problem every meeting between the group. I believe that Global Goal 10 relates best because it talks about reduced inequalities and how everyone is equal. This would help support the UNs initiative because then everyone would be on good terms and would be more willing to help out. This is a priority for you because this issue is the first step in completing all the global goals and those are very important.
