Gun Control 🔫 in the U.S 🇺🇸 = 👍

Gun control is a big issue in our country. There have been many mass shootings at malls, schools, and airports. If the government would put stronger regulations on who can and can't buy, sell, or own guns then maybe there would be less shootings. Gun control is a set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, modification, and use of firearms by civilians.

Dear Future President,

Gun control is a major issue in the U.S. The 2nd amendment states " The right of the people to keep and bear arms" I agree with this statement, but I think that if you are mentally unstable then you should not be able to buy or own a gun. " Guns don't kill people, people kill people." I take this quote to my heart. I believe in this quote because it is very true. Some people think if there were no guns in the U.S then we would have great country, but that is not true. Without guns, the police would not be able to protect us at the lengths they do now, the military would not be able to protect our country.

The regulations on guns is all ready high enough. Yes, we should add some more laws or restrictions on guns, but then we would have to spend that much more on just guns alone. I think the only law we should add is more in-depth background checks. As of now, you can go into any gun shop or sporting goods store and purchase a gun with a minimal back ground check. If we could add longer checks for assault rifles and mental test to make sure the buyer or owner of the weapon. According to a pole in early 2016 "36%-49% of households own guns, and 26%-36% adults own guns." Almost half of the households in United States own guns. If the government took guns away from that many people, this country would be in an even worse place.

Most of the guns that people own, there is a reason for. A lot of people have guns for self-defense or hunting. Without people owning the guns, they would most likely rely on more lethal methods to protecting their family. I know if my family wasn't allowed to own guns then I would most definitely find other ways to protect them. Yeah sure, there are tasers and and pepper spray, but those all require you to be close to them and is your using one of those little zapper tasers all the attacker has to do is grab your arm and you've just tased your self. Pepper spray is a different story, it spreads so fast and it burns really bad. If your attacker gets it one his or her hands and wipes it on you've just burnt yourself. Also, people use guns for hunting. Most people just use standard hunting rifles, but others use assault rifles with low capacity mags. If the government made that illegal then people could not provide food for their family. Also, people have stopped a lot of animal attacks with guns. You could just be walking around and bam! a mountain lion is attacking you. What would you do without a gun? Nothing. Exactly. That is why I am against gun control.
