Ocean Pollution

Ocean pollution is a problem that we need to fix to save our marine life and us.

October 7, 2016

Dear Next President,

Hello next president, I hope you are doing well. I would like to talk about an issue that concerns me. I feel like you should be helping oceans get cleaned up and should be more focused on how it's affecting the marine life. Ocean pollution is bad and people should be more concerned with it and not ignore it. Another issue is that ocean trash pollution affects the wellbeing of animals.

When trash is dumped into our oceans animals get caught in the waste. When they get caught in the waste some of the marine life can't escape, so they die. According to the article “The Health of our Oceans is Failing” by U.S Newswire, numerous species of marine mammals like the sea turtle and sea birds are in danger of extinction. People need to be aware of what's going on with our oceans. Ocean pollution affects us too because when pollution wipes out our fishes we lose our food chain. “Ocean Pollution and its Effect on Humans” states the build up of pollution on the beach can also affect humans. Coming into contact or mistakenly ingesting the water surrounding this pollution can result in some nasty side effects such as stomach-aches, diarrhoea or even skin rashes. The more we ignore the issue the worse it's going to get. Some oceans you can see the trash or the oil just floating there. This is an issue we need to resolve. Furthermore we need to pay attention to oil pollution as well.

There is pollutions in our oceans that are not just trash, there is also oil. When an oil spill happens, people don't see how it affects marine life and us.When oil spills into our ocean that's some of our drinking water that now has toxins. Do you really want to be drinking water that's contaminated. Oil affects the marine life as well when they swim in it. In the NOA article “How does oil impact marine life?” it claims when the mammals try to clean themselves they take in the oil and get poisoned. People should listen to this facts and stop doing what they please. It's not hard to throw away trash in trashcans and we can clean an oil spill when it happens. I got a plan that if you help out it might work to save more of our oceans.

If you would just take some time out of you're very busy day to help and get more involved in trying to stop pollution from getting into our oceans then we can do this step by step. By putting money into a researching for a device that cleans our waters and to reinforce people to stop throwing trash by sewers or on the ground it would help alot. We need to do something fast to save our oceans, us, and our marine life before it's too late, but thanks for reading my letter and hopefully this problem can be resolved by your help.

Sincerely,

Jasmine
