Government for the People, or Against?

The government in today's day and age is not acting for the people. The government is going against the peoples wishes right now and that needs to change.

Dear Mr/Madam President:

Before I say anything else, I want to thank you for serving your country. One of the, if not the, most important job in this country, is the job you are currently holding. Please act responsibly and do what is best for your people while you hold the office.

The government is supposed to protect our rights, but with the enacting of the common core, Obamacare, the EPA, and many other things, the United States government has grown so large that it is actually taking away citizens’ rights. If you reduced our government size Mr/Madam President it would be cheaper for the nation, there would be less agencies keeping track of everyone, more businesses could thrive, since they are not being snuffed out by the government, less taxes for the middle/lower class since there are less things to pay for, and above all your citizens will have a sense of freedom.

As of now, the government is in most people's lives 24/7. Whether it be taxes, the environmental agencies, healthcare, or student loans, everyone has the government somewhere in their life. The country's founding fathers did not intend for the government to become as large as it is today. The founding fathers intended the government to work for the people, not against the people.

The Environmental Protection Agency has become insanely unregulated Mr/Madam President. They have the ability to come and take away the rights my family has to a pond on our property if they think that the fish in it are in danger. The article entitled The Government’s Reach Into Our Lives is Growing explains “the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has not only been empowered to regulate carbon dioxide, what you’re exhaling right now, but is moving into controlling other areas of our lives and our economy, all in the name of “protecting us.”. In California, the EPA said that farmers could only use a certain amount of water because "the fish might die". California yields most of the fruits and vegetables for our country, but yet the EPA has the right to say that if it harms the environment in any way then farmers cannot use a certain amount of water. The real issue is not that the EPA thinks the fish are more important than America. No, the real issue is that the people have no real way to regulate what the EPA can or cannot do since Congress has no power over the EPA. If the government is supposed to be for the people, why is it that a branch of the government thinks that fish are more important than American citizens?

Thank you for taking the responsibility of becoming the president of The United States Of America. It is an extremely hard job. I know that you might want to enlarge the government to have more power for yourself, but the government was never supposed to become this large. The article entitled The Benefits of a Limited Government explains “Poll after poll shows that Americans think government is too big. Yet, since the 1930’s government programs, agencies and regulations continue to expand with more people becoming dependent upon the government and others getting caught up in a tangled web of bureaucracy.” If the people do not want it why does the government keep enlarging? Please Mr/Madam President, listen to the American people and reduce the government's size.

Cordially,

Noah H.
