Native american land

How much land being taken from Native Americans

 Dear Next President,

More and more Native Americans are being removed from their homes due to businesses wanting to enlarge buildings. In the article Standing Rock, Litigations by David Archarm Bault ll. He states that "Native Americans have suffered generations of broken promises and today the Federal Government said that national reform is needed to be better ensure that tribes have a voice in infrastructure projects like this pipeline. Native Americans should not be denied of their human rights. They should be able to keep their sacred lands.โ€

Native Americans have given up all their land over the years, and to ask or impose that more land being taken away is unjust. When the Federal Government wants to build new roads, businesses, etc., Native Americans are expected to give up their land this is unacceptable like the pipeline in question, could easily be moved to the north of the Standing Rock Reservation, so as to not take away more land.

This deeply affects people torn from their homes and having to give up their culture and their beliefs along with the sacred land. This sacrifices their ability to to learn their language and traditions. These values can be expressed and reinforced through art, stories, songs or rituals and language. This is crucial to the preservation of culture. It also affects the nation and how some are violated of their rights.

Native Americans have lost sacred land due to the government wanting to expand their land. A man who works for science and humanity named Aeon, tells a vital story beginning in 1784 to present day that over 1.5 billion acres and homes have been seized. President Andrew Jackson, had passed the Removal act, which forced Native Americans to leave their land causing tension today.

Native Americans should not have to fight for their own land and sacred places. It is your duty as a president to help protect the Native Americans.

Respectfully,

Lydia J.
