Dear Next President,
Racism is a BIG problem, this is what racism means, prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior. Would you want to be treated like this? Hi, I’m Lily, I live and Michigan I’m 12 years old and I believe that we NEED to put a stop to racism
According to, itstopswithme.humanrights it causes mental health impacts such as, depression, sadness, anger, and being left out. Also, headaches, sweating, increased heart rate, trembling, and muscle tension. That’s not all they have constant fear of being verbally and physically attacked, these people don’t want to go to school, and they have little or no trust in anybody, but their family. How would you feel if you had all this stuff running through your head?
Now, let’s think about how their race affects if they get accepted into college/school or how they get a job. This happens and it shouldn’t! Why would this happen? Their people, just like you and me. So what if their a different race, does that really matter. It might be that it affects the community. I mean it does affect neighbors, classmates, workmates, and friends. But, I still think it shouldn’t affect those people.
I think possible solutions could be to say something and speak up. Here’s some solutions stated by the website, itstopswithme.humanrights Say something if it feels okay to do (not aggressive or abusive).Say nothing and walk away, or you can even report it ,if you feel unsafe or threatened at the time. It also says, you can talk to a teacher at school, or just talk to someone. I believe that racism is a big problem, I hope to see changes soon.
Sincerely,
Lily
