Animal crualty
We should stop animal cruelty.
Dear future President:
I think we should stop animal cruelty and make animals safe. From testing, dog fights, puppy mills and animal hoarding, no puppy can be happy out in the world to run around and play. Some types of animal abuse I care most about are dog fights, animal hoarding and puppy mills.
Dog fighting is when people have dogs fight other dogs. Most of the dogs don’t get to run around or play. There usually tied on a chain all day every day. According to ASPCA, “Dog fighting is one of the most heinous forms of animal cruelty. Fighting dogs are typically raised in isolation, so they spend most of their lives on short, heavy chains. They are regularly conditioned for fighting through the use of drugs, including anabolic steroids to enhance muscle mass and encourage aggressiveness.”
Then there’s puppy mills. Puppy mills are places that breed puppys. Usually the puppy don’t get to play outside. The mother dogs don't really get time to recover after having puppies. They usually just keep breeding and breeding. According to ASPCA, “Puppy mills usually house dogs in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions without adequate veterinary care, food, water or socialization. In order to maximize profits, female dogs are bred at every opportunity with little-to-no recovery time between litters. Puppy mill puppies, often as young as eight weeks of age, are sold to pet shops or directly to the public over the Internet, through newspaper ads and at swap meets and flea markets.”
Then there’s also animal hoarding. Animal hoarding is when people own a lot of animals to where you can’t even keep track of them. Why animal hoarding is bad is animals get sick, not enough food, animals die and disease. According to ASPCA, “It has been estimated that there are 900 to 2,000 new cases of animal hoarding every year in the United States, with a quarter of a million animals falling victim. Animals collected range from cats and dogs to reptiles, rodents, birds, exotics and even farm animals. Animal hoarding is covered implicitly under every state’s animal cruelty statute, which typically requires caretakers to provide sufficient food, water and veterinary care.
Those are three types of animal cruelty that should be stopped or fixed. So we should pass a law to stop animal abuse and make all animals happy again. Thank you for reading this.
Sincerely Eddie .P
