Dear future President of the United States of America:

Poverty and world hunger are just a few of the many important issues in our country, in our nation, and in our world. There are people out there with no shelter, no home, with no resources, and there are people who are trying to survive with no food. There are people out there with nothing. This is an issue and it needs to be addressed. These people need us, they need someone. Many people are facing the struggle of poverty, worldwide and global hunger. You, being the future president needs to address this issue by helping support the homeless and the hungry, we need to help the people who live their lives in poverty. There are already organizations that are helping the people who live in poverty, but I know we can be doing much more. Much more. First, the statistics on people living in poverty is very high, and many people are unaware of it. It is so sad about how uninformed people are about things that mean a lot and that impact many people. Also, poverty is not only about people being homeless and not having many things, but many people in poverty do not have food resources. World hunger is an issue that also needs to be resolved, and this is also another issue people are unaware about. Lastly, we should help fund organizations that help poverty and global hunger, because we can help these people and you can make an impact by changing things in our government. People living in poverty and world hunger, need help and this is not an issue we can just set aside. This is an issue that we need to resolve.

To begin, the statistics on people living in poverty is very high, and many people are unaware of it. Many people do not see poverty as an issue, or something that is important, but it truly is. In fact, many people do not have shelter or money, many people do not have many resources. In fact, according to Dictionary.com, the definition of poverty is, “the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; condition of being poor.” The extent of this issue is large, it affects many people every day, not only in the United States, but globally this is a problem. People worldwide face this struggle. The struggle is real. If we decide to help and fund these people, then we may make a difference in our world. The website, http://www.feedingamerica.org/, is an organization that is currently trying to help the people in poverty, it has a lot of information about the topic. One thing that it says is, “In 2015: 43.1 million people, (13.5 percent) were in poverty. 24.4 million, (12.4 percent) of people ages 18-64 were in poverty. 14.5 million people, (19.7 percent) children under the age of 18 were in poverty. 4.2 million, (8.8 percent) seniors 65 and over were in poverty.” Also, this website stated that these facts were provided by, http://www.census.gov/. This information was recorded in 2015, but now that is 2016, the rate will only go higher. Many people are not informed about this topic, as much as they should be. Overall, these statistics should be shared, because many people do not know how poor a great extent of people are and many people do not know how large these numbers are. The statistics are high, and many people are unaware of it, but we can help lower them.

Apart from, the rates being high on poverty, world wide hunger is another issue, that is similar, and most often a part of poverty. Many people do not have many food resources, and are struggling because of it. The statistics of people living hungry, is also very high. Another, website that show an extent of information about global huger is, https://www.wfp.org/. In this website, one statistical piece of information states, “Some 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. That's about one in nine people on earth.” Because this is true, it shows the reality, many people actually do not have enough food to live on, many people, worldwide, are starving, or have very little food resources. The website also says, “Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five - 3.1 million children each year.” Many people who live their lives normally do not even know this and many people probably do not even think about this when they waste food, or do other things. If people are more aware of the true statistics, then maybe people will be more aware when they throw away or waste food. We can make a difference, but only if we try. You may not have to deal with poverty or hunger, but many people do have to deal with these things and we can be doing many things to help. For example, there was an event at my church, where many people would volunteer to help pack little bags of food for people in places like, Haiti and other places that need the food. This organization is called, Feed My Starving Children. Anyone can volunteer and help pack meal and this organization goes to many places, like Illinois, Minnesota, and Arizona, they also go to many more places around the U.S.A to help these people. This is only one way of something we can be doing to help. There are many ways to help and many organizations are helping, but if more people know the statistics, maybe more people will be more willing to help, because many people are not aware of what is going on.

Lastly, we should help fund organizations that help poverty and world hunger, because we can help these people and you can make an impact by changing things in our government. Some organizations, like FeedMore and Feeding America are helping the people in poverty and the people that are facing worldwide hunger. The website, http://mswonlineprograms.org/ tells of many more organizations that are doing many things to help. Though this website is a blog, I have done more research to ensure the facts are correct. If our government helps fund more organizations that are trying to help, then I know the statistics of people living in poverty, or people who are facing hunger, will go down. We can make a difference in our society. Most of the organizations are nonprofit, and that means, they do not make any money working for that specific job. In fact, http://www.takepart.com/ says that the organization, Feeding America, is actually non profit. It states, “Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity, with network members supplying food to more than 25 million Americans each year. Their network of more than 200 food banks serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The Feeding America network secures and distributes more than 2 billion pounds of donated food and grocery products annually.” I also found more information on the actual Feeding America site, that also stated that this was true. This amazes me, because this is a large group, and it is non profit. I will say again, if our government helps fund more organizations that are trying to help, then I know the statistics of people living in poverty, or people who are facing hunger, will go down.

In conclusion, we do need to fix the problem of poverty, and global hunger. This is an issue and it needs to be addressed. As said before, many people are facing the struggle of poverty, worldwide and global hunger and you, being the future president needs to address this issue by helping support the homeless and the hungry, we need to help the people who live their lives in poverty. This is a problem and we can do something. One thing we can do is let more people know about the statistics of people living in poverty, and global hunger, to get more people informed, may get more people involved to help. We can also help in a large way by helping provide some money to organizations that are non profit, that are helping support and fix poverty and global hunger. We can help by profiting them because if we do, then these companies can help make a difference. Poverty and homelessness are just a few of the many important issues in our country, in our nation, in our world. There are people out there with no shelter, no home, with no resources, and there are people who are trying to survive even with no food.
