Border Security

I want more border security and stricter punishment with illegal immigrants who commit crimes in the United States

Dear Future President,

I think we need better border security and look at the records of illegal immigrants more closely to decide if they can enter into this country. Second, I think if an immigrant commits a crime, they have to go back to their home country. In an LA Times article, Senator John McCain, a Republican from Arizona, believes one way to solve this problem is for more high tech resources like drones to patrol the border even more carefully. One important fact is there are about 18,500 U.S. Border Patrol agents and that is the most we have had in decades. I do agree with Senator McCain and offer some solutions of my own to this issue.

I believe one solution is for more drones and more vetting to protect the United States from immigrants coming into the country who might cause harm would be best. However, I would give citizenship to people who follow the rules by doing what most Americans do, like paying taxes. I also believe that people who don't follow the rules should get deported. I want to get rid of amnesty because the United States should not give amnesty to most illegal immigrants who don't take our system seriously.

Thank you future President for listening to my concerns and opinions on this topic.

Sincerely,

Alec
